Ingredients
Scale
Milk and Cream
- 12 oz evaporated milk
- 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
- 15 oz cream of coconut
- 13.5 oz coconut milk
Flavorings
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Ground nutmeg (optional, for garnish)
- Cinnamon sticks (for garnish)
Alcohol
- 0.5 to 1 cup white rum (optional)
Instructions
- Combine Milk and Cream: Add the evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, cream of coconut, and coconut milk into a blender. Blend until the mixture is fully smooth and creamy, creating a perfectly balanced base for the drink.
- Add Flavorings and Rum: Pour in the vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and white rum if using. Blend again briefly just to combine all the flavors evenly throughout the drink.
- Chill the Coquito: Transfer the blended mixture into a pitcher or sealable bottles. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or preferably overnight. This chilling time helps the flavors meld together and the drink to thicken slightly.
- Serve with Garnish: Shake the coquito well before serving to remix any settled ingredients. Pour into small glasses and garnish each with a cinnamon stick and a light sprinkle of ground nutmeg or cinnamon for added aroma and visual appeal.
Notes
- Coquito can be prepared without rum for a delicious non-alcoholic version suitable for all ages.
- Make sure to chill the drink well; serving it cold enhances the creamy texture and flavor.
- Store any leftover coquito refrigerated and shake well before each serving.
- For a thicker consistency, increase the cream of coconut slightly or add a small amount of sweetened condensed milk.
- Use fresh ground cinnamon and nutmeg for the best aromatic results.
