Ingredients
Scale
Puff Pastry
- 1 package (17.3 oz) frozen puff pastry, thawed
Cheese
- 8 oz wheel of brie cheese
Toppings
- 1 cup cranberry sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans (optional)
- 2-3 sprigs fresh thyme for garnish
Other
- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a mini muffin tin to prevent sticking.
- Prepare pastry cups: Roll out the thawed puff pastry and cut it into 24 equal squares. Press each square gently into the wells of the mini muffin tin to form small cups.
- Cut brie: Slice the wheel of brie cheese into 24 small cubes, about half an inch each, perfect for topping each pastry cup.
- Assemble bites: Place one brie cube inside each pastry cup. Then spoon a portion of cranberry sauce over the brie in each cup.
- Add pecans: If using, sprinkle chopped pecans on top of the cranberry sauce to add a crunchy texture.
- Apply egg wash: Optionally, brush the edges of the pastry cups with the beaten egg to enhance browning and create a beautiful golden finish when baked.
- Bake: Bake the assembled bites in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden brown and the brie is melted and bubbly.
- Cool and garnish: Allow the bites to cool for a few minutes, then garnish with fresh thyme sprigs before serving to add aroma and a fresh herb touch.
Notes
- You can substitute pecans with walnuts or omit nuts entirely for a nut-free option.
- Use homemade cranberry sauce for a fresher, less sweet flavor compared to store-bought versions.
- Be careful not to overfill the pastry cups to avoid overflow during baking.
- If the puff pastry starts to warm and become difficult to work with, chill it briefly before continuing.
- These bites are best served warm for optimal cheese texture but can be enjoyed at room temperature.
