Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 2 large onions, peeled and sliced into thin rings or half-moons
Instructions
- Prep the onions: Peel the onions and slice them into thin rings or half-moons. Gently separate the layers to help them pack evenly in the jar.
- Choose a clean jar: Select a clean glass jar with a tight-sealing lid. Ensure the jar is washed and completely dry before use.
- Pack the onions: Add the sliced onions to the jar in handfuls. Press them down gently using your fingers or the back of a spoon to remove air pockets without crushing the slices.
- Fill to the top: Leave about ½ inch (1–2 cm) of space at the top of the jar so the lid can be closed easily.
- Seal the jar: Wipe the rim of the jar clean to ensure a good seal, then screw the lid on tightly to close the jar.
Notes
- Use thinly sliced onions for better packing and freshness.
- Ensure the jar is fully dry to prevent any moisture that could spoil the onions.
- Press gently to avoid bruising or crushing the onions.
- Store the jar in the refrigerator to keep onions fresh longer.
