Ingredients
Scale
Dough
- 2 (8-ounce) cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
Meats
- 8 slices deli ham or turkey ham
- 8 slices hard salami
- 8 slices pepperoni
Cheese
- 8 slices provolone cheese
- 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan (optional topping)
Other
- ½ cup banana pepper rings (optional for zing)
- 2 tablespoons Italian dressing or mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon or spicy mustard
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease your baking dish or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Prepare Base Dough Layer: Roll out one can of crescent roll dough evenly on the bottom of the baking dish. Press the seams together to form a solid, uniform base layer that will hold the fillings.
- Make Dressing Spread: In a small bowl, combine the Italian dressing, Dijon mustard, and Italian seasoning to create a flavorful spread that will add zest to the sandwich layers.
- Layer Ingredients: Begin layering half of the provolone cheese evenly over the dough base, followed by slices of ham, salami, pepperoni, and optional banana pepper rings. Finish this layer with the remaining cheese to evenly distribute the fillings.
- Top Spread and Seal: Lightly spread the Italian dressing mixture over the layered fillings to add moisture and flavor. Next, roll out the second can of crescent roll dough and gently place it over the layered ingredients. Press and seal the edges to enclose the sandwich bake.
- Apply Egg Wash and Parmesan: Brush the entire top layer of dough with the beaten egg to promote browning and a shiny finish. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top if you desire an extra cheesy crust.
- Bake: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until the top is golden brown and cooked through. If it begins to brown too quickly, cover loosely with foil to prevent burning.
Notes
- Optional banana pepper rings add a nice tangy zing but can be omitted if preferred.
- If you do not have Italian dressing, mayonnaise can be used as a substitute.
- Make sure to press the crescent roll dough seams well to prevent leaks during baking.
- Use foil midway through baking if the top browns too fast to ensure even cooking.
- Allow the bake to rest for 5 minutes before slicing for easier serving.
