Description

This authentic Kafta Kebabs recipe features a flavorful blend of lean ground beef, fresh parsley, and aromatic spices, all shaped around skewers and grilled to perfection. Quick to prepare and perfect for a family meal, these kebabs are juicy, tender, and infused with Middle Eastern spices.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Herbs

  • 600 grams lean ground beef
  • 1 medium yellow onion, quartered
  • 1 cup fresh parsley, washed and patted dry

Spices

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon seven spice pre-mixed spice blend
  • â…› teaspoon cayenne pepper, more to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Onion and Parsley: Quarter the onion and wash the fresh parsley thoroughly. This will help achieve the best flavor and texture when mixed with the meat.
  2. Chop Ingredients: In a food processor, add the quartered onion and fresh parsley. Pulse until both ingredients are finely chopped but not pureed, ensuring they mix evenly into the meat.
  3. Mix the Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the lean ground beef with the finely chopped onion and parsley. Add salt, black pepper, seven spice blend, and cayenne pepper. Use your hands to mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  4. Form the Kebabs: With clean hands, take portions of the meat mixture and mold them around skewers. Make sure the meat thickness is about an inch to an inch and a half for even cooking.
  5. Preheat the Grill: Prepare your grill and make sure it’s hot before placing the kebabs on it. This helps to achieve a nice sear and locks in juices.
  6. Grill the Kebabs: Place the kafta skewers on the grill carefully. Cook for about 4 minutes on each side, turning gently to cook evenly and ensure the meat is cooked through with a juicy interior.
  7. Serve Immediately: Remove from the grill and serve the kebabs hot for the best flavor and texture experience.

Notes

  • For a more intense flavor, marinate the meat mixture in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before forming the kebabs.
  • If you don’t have a grill, you can cook the kebabs under a broiler or in a grill pan on the stovetop.
  • Adjust the cayenne pepper to your preferred spice level.
  • Soak wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes prior to use to prevent burning.
  • Serve with pita bread, fresh salad, or a side of rice.
