Ingredients
Scale
Base Dough
- 1½ cups unsalted butter, room temperature
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp milk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp almond extract
- 3½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp salt
Color & Decoration
- Purple gel food coloring
- Black gel food coloring
- Purple sprinkles
- ½ cup black or chocolate sprinkles
Instructions
- Prepare Butter and Sugar: Beat the unsalted butter and powdered sugar in a large bowl until the mixture becomes light, fluffy, and creamy. This creates the perfect base texture for your cookie dough.
- Add Wet Ingredients: Incorporate the eggs and milk into the butter-sugar mixture, mixing until completely smooth and combined to maintain a consistent dough.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: Add the all-purpose flour, salt, vanilla extract, and almond extract into the wet mixture. Mix well until a cohesive dough is formed without lumps.
- Divide and Color Dough: Separate the dough into three portions. Tint one half of the dough with purple gel food coloring thoroughly. Divide the remaining half into black and white portions; tint the black dough with black gel food coloring.
- Roll Black Dough: Roll the black dough into a 6 by 12-inch rectangle on a lightly floured surface to ensure even thickness.
- Layer White Dough: Similarly, roll out the white dough to the same size of 6 by 12 inches. Place the white dough sheet carefully on top of the black dough. Roll lightly with a rolling pin to adhere the two layers firmly.
- Roll Purple Dough with Sprinkles: Roll the purple dough into the same 6 by 12-inch rectangle. Spread purple sprinkles evenly over the surface. Then carefully roll the purple dough into a log shape to prepare the spiral effect.
Notes
- Use gel food coloring for vibrant hues without affecting dough consistency.
- Ensure the dough layers are rolled evenly to achieve clear spiral patterns when sliced.
- Chill the logs briefly before slicing if the dough becomes too soft to handle.
- Preheat the oven and bake on parchment-lined trays for easier cleanup.
- Store cookies in an airtight container for up to one week to maintain freshness.
