Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- ¾ cup strong brewed coffee or espresso
- 1 ¼ cups milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional)
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: In a blender or a large mixing bowl, add the brewed coffee, milk, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cornstarch if using, and a pinch of salt. This combination forms the base mixture for your mocha pops.
- Blend or Whisk: Blend the mixture until completely smooth or whisk vigorously by hand to ensure all the ingredients are fully combined and the cocoa powder and sugar are dissolved.
- Pour into Molds: Carefully pour the mocha mixture into popsicle molds, making sure to leave some space at the top to allow for expansion as they freeze.
- Insert Sticks and Settle: Insert the popsicle sticks into the molds and gently tap the molds on the counter to release any trapped air bubbles, ensuring a smooth texture.
- Freeze: Place the molds in the freezer and freeze for at least 4 to 6 hours until the popsicles are completely solidified.
- Release and Serve: To remove the popsicles from the molds, briefly run the molds under warm water for a few seconds to loosen them and then gently pull out the mocha pops. Enjoy immediately or store for later.
Notes
- You can use any kind of milk you prefer such as almond, soy, oat, or cow’s milk depending on your dietary needs.
- Cornstarch is optional but helps to slightly thicken the mixture, giving the pops a creamier texture.
- Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar according to taste.
- Ensure the coffee is strong and cooled to room temperature before mixing to avoid melting the pops prematurely.
- If you do not have popsicle molds, you can use small paper cups and wooden sticks as substitutes.
