Description

This Peach Lemonade recipe is the ultimate refreshing summer drink, blending the natural sweetness of ripe peaches with the bright tartness of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Perfectly balanced with a homemade peach syrup and chilled to perfection, it’s a delightful beverage to cool off on hot days, enhanced with optional garnishes of lemon slices, peach slices, and fresh mint.

Ingredients

Scale

Peach Syrup

  • 6 ripe peaches, pitted and roughly chopped
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, plus more to taste
  • 1 cup water

Lemonade

  • 1 1/2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice (from about 8-10 lemons)
  • 6 cups cold water, plus more to adjust to taste
  • Ice cubes, for serving
  • Lemon slices, for garnish (optional)
  • Peach slices, for garnish (optional)
  • Fresh mint sprigs, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine peaches, sugar, and water: In a medium saucepan, combine the chopped peaches, 1 cup of granulated sugar, and 1 cup of water to prepare the base for the peach syrup.
  2. Bring to a simmer: Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar and prevent sticking.
  3. Simmer and mash: Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes until peaches are very soft. Gently mash the peaches with a potato masher or spoon to release more flavor.
  4. Strain the syrup: Pour the peach mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a heat-proof bowl, pressing the solids to extract as much syrup as possible. Discard or save the pulp.
  5. Cool the syrup: Allow the peach syrup to cool completely. Use an ice bath to speed up cooling if desired.
  6. Combine lemon juice and water: In a large pitcher, mix the freshly squeezed lemon juice with 6 cups of cold water.
  7. Add the peach syrup: Pour the cooled peach syrup into the pitcher and stir well to combine all ingredients.
  8. Taste and adjust: Sample the lemonade and adjust sweetness by adding more sugar or tartness by adding more lemon juice. Dilute further with water if preferred.
  9. Chill the lemonade: Cover and refrigerate the lemonade for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld and to chill thoroughly.
  10. Fill glasses with ice: Fill serving glasses about three-quarters full with ice cubes.
  11. Pour the lemonade: Pour the chilled peach lemonade over the ice-filled glasses.
  12. Garnish (optional): Add lemon slices, peach slices, and fresh mint sprigs for enhanced flavor and presentation.
  13. Serve immediately: Serve the refreshing peach lemonade right away and enjoy!

Notes

  • Adjust sweetness and tartness to your personal preference by adding sugar or lemon juice as needed.
  • The peach pulp can be saved and used as a topping for yogurt, oatmeal, or desserts.
  • Chilling the lemonade longer than 30 minutes enhances the flavor blending.
  • Use ripe peaches for the best flavor and sweetness in the syrup.
  • Freshly squeezed lemon juice provides the best flavor, but bottled lemon juice can be used in a pinch.
