Description

This Prosciutto Fig Jam Sandwich is a delicious and sophisticated lunch option combining the sweet richness of fig jam with savory prosciutto, creamy goat cheese, and fresh arugula. Perfect for a quick yet gourmet meal, it offers an Italian-inspired flavor profile wrapped in crusty bread and optionally toasted to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

Bread and Spreads

  • 4 slices of crusty bread such as sourdough or ciabatta
  • 4 tablespoons fig jam
  • 4 ounces soft goat cheese or cream cheese

Protein and Greens

  • 6 ounces thinly sliced prosciutto
  • 1 small handful arugula or baby spinach

Additional

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for toasting)
  • Fresh cracked black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Spread and assemble: Spread 1 tablespoon of fig jam evenly on each slice of bread. On two slices, evenly layer the soft goat cheese or cream cheese, then place the thinly sliced prosciutto on top. Add a handful of arugula or baby spinach over the prosciutto and season with fresh cracked black pepper.
  2. Form sandwiches: Place the remaining two slices of bread on top of the assembled sides to create two sandwiches.
  3. Optional toasting: If desired, brush the outside of each sandwich lightly with olive oil to help achieve a golden crust. Heat a skillet over medium heat and toast the sandwiches for 2 to 3 minutes per side until the bread is golden brown and slightly crispy.
  4. Serve: Slice the sandwiches in half diagonally and serve immediately for the best flavor and texture experience.

Notes

  • For extra flavor and texture, add thin slices of fresh pear or apple inside the sandwich.
  • These sandwiches are ideal for brunch, lunch, or a light dinner.
  • Pair beautifully with a crisp white wine or sparkling water for a refreshing accompaniment.
