Description

This indulgent Red Velvet Trifle is a layered dessert featuring moist red velvet cake cubes, creamy white chocolate cheesecake pudding, and whipped topping, all garnished with mini chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and pecan chips. Perfect for gatherings, it blends rich flavors and textures into a visually stunning and delicious treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Red Velvet Cake

  • 1 box Red Velvet cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup cooking oil
  • 1 cup water

Cheesecake Pudding Mixture

  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 boxes instant white chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups half & half
  • 1 cup whipped topping

Toppings and Garnishes

  • 8 oz whipped topping
  • Mini chocolate chips, for layering and topping
  • White chocolate chips, for topping
  • Pecan chips, for topping
  • Chocolate sauce, for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Bake the Cake: Preheat your oven and prepare the red velvet cake batter according to the package instructions, using the provided eggs, oil, and water. Pour the batter into a cake pan and bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove from the oven and let cool completely.
  2. Prepare the Cheesecake Pudding Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, use a mixer to whip together softened cream cheese, instant white chocolate pudding mix, half & half, and 1 cup of whipped topping until smooth and creamy with no lumps.
  3. Cube the Cake: Once the cake is completely cooled, cut it into cubes of roughly even size to facilitate layering.
  4. First Layer: Place a single layer of cake cubes in the bottom of your chosen trifle dish or glass bowl so the bottom is fully covered. Drizzle chocolate sauce evenly over the cake cubes to enhance flavor.
  5. Add Cheesecake Layer and Toppings: Spoon half of the white chocolate cheesecake pudding mixture over the cake cubes, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle a layer of mini chocolate chips on top to add crunch and chocolate flavor.
  6. Repeat Layers: Add another layer of cake cubes over the cheesecake layer, drizzle more chocolate sauce, then top with the remaining cheesecake mixture. Again, sprinkle mini chocolate chips evenly on top.
  7. Final Topping: Finish with a generous layer of whipped topping. Garnish with a mix of mini chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, pecan chips, and any leftover cake crumbles for extra texture and a beautiful presentation.
  8. Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the trifle for at least an hour before serving to allow the layers to set and flavors to meld. Serve chilled for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • Ensure the cake is completely cooled before cutting and assembling to prevent the cheesecake pudding mixture from melting.
  • You can prepare the cake a day in advance to save time on assembly day.
  • For a richer pudding layer, use full-fat cream cheese and half & half.
  • Feel free to substitute pecan chips with chopped walnuts or almonds if preferred.
  • Storage: Keep refrigerated and consume within 3 days for best freshness.
