Ingredients
Scale
Phyllo Dough Layer
- 20 sheets phyllo dough, thawed
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
Nut Filling
- 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Toppings
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
- 2 tablespoons chopped pistachios (optional, for garnish)
- 12 whole pecans (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Muffin Tin: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 12-cup muffin tin to prevent the baklava cups from sticking during baking.
- Prepare Phyllo Sheets: Cut the thawed phyllo sheets into 3×3 inch squares. Keep these covered with a damp towel to prevent them from drying out as you work.
- Layer Phyllo Sheets: In each muffin cup, layer 5 phyllo squares, offsetting each to create a star shape. Brush each phyllo layer generously with melted butter to ensure crispiness and rich flavor.
- Make Nut Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped pecans, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract until well mixed.
- Fill Phyllo Cups: Spoon approximately 1 1/2 tablespoons of the nut filling into each phyllo cup and gently press it down to compact the mixture.
- Bake: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 18 to 22 minutes, or until the baklava cups are golden brown and crisp.
- Cool and Add Caramel: Remove from the oven and allow the baklava cups to cool for about 10 minutes. Once slightly cooled, drizzle each cup with caramel sauce.
- Garnish: Garnish each baklava cup with chopped pistachios and a whole pecan if desired, adding a pop of color and extra crunch.
- Serve: Enjoy the baklava cups warm or at room temperature, which enhances the caramel and nut flavors.
- Storage: Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze them for up to one month to maintain freshness.
Notes

- The caramel sauce can be homemade or store-bought based on preference.
- These baklava cups can be frozen and reheated gently in the oven before serving.
- Adjust cinnamon to taste if you prefer less or more spice.
