Description

This BBQ Pulled Pork recipe features tender, slow-cooked pork shoulder that melts in your mouth, infused with smoky BBQ flavors perfect for sandwiches or serving as a hearty main dish. The pork is seasoned simply, slow-cooked for 8 hours to perfection, and mixed with a tangy BBQ sauce for a crowd-pleasing meal ideal for family gatherings or parties.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat

  • 4 lb pork shoulder

Liquids & Sauces

  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • ½ cup broth

Seasonings

  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Season pork: Generously season the 4 lb pork shoulder with salt and pepper on all sides to enhance the flavor before cooking.
  2. Cook on LOW 8 hours: Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker, pour in ½ cup broth around the meat (not over the top to avoid washing off seasoning), then cover and cook on LOW for 8 hours until the pork is very tender and easily shredded.
  3. Shred and mix with sauce: Remove the cooked pork from the slow cooker, shred it thoroughly using two forks, then mix in 1 cup of BBQ sauce evenly so every bite is flavorful and moist. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For best results, use a pork shoulder with some fat marbling to keep the meat moist during slow cooking.
  • You can use any favorite BBQ sauce, whether sweet, spicy, or smoky, according to your preference.
  • If you want extra smoky flavor, add a teaspoon of smoked paprika or a splash of liquid smoke to the seasoning.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
  • This recipe is perfect for making sandwiches, tacos, or serving with coleslaw on the side.
